Anyone played it yet? Is it an improvement from previous 2k baseball games?

It's not as bad as I thought it was. Don't buy it yet. Go rent it. The demo didn't give this game any value. I just can't figure out how to increase the skills of my closer in the My Player mode.

I'd also use a pitcher, preferably a closer. It's the most fun and easiest position to get called up.

I've got a SS. It was tough at first. I was pathetic at the plate. It took me around 40 games in the minors to get my OBP above 300(requirement to get called up), but now that I've got the timing down, I'm owning the Majors.

Pleasantly surprised by the game vs. last year. 2K9 was a complete piece of shite. 2K10 is actually fun.

How exactly do you get your ratings up? I've played 25 games and spent the pouints, but nothing is happening? What am I doing wrong?

Is the only way to progress through the skills sessions?

No. When the home screen comes up after each game, I click the R stick, move to the right to My Player, the move to the right again where it says something like skill points. That's where you increase your rating.
