Go with smooth stone, glass, and stone slabs. The result will be a clean and modern look.

You have to smelt cobblestone in a furnace.
Edit - And once you have smooth stone, you can create smooth stone slabs (which are white).

The textures are different from the default pack, so obviously it was on the PC.

How many people can a server hold?
Are all worlds island based? I have to do a lot of swimming in Proof's utopia of Islands and Pigs.
