My son’s Xbox won’t let him (or me) play or uninstall Fortnite. Every other game and app works fine. I’ve cleared local saved data and have plenty room on the storage device. Whenever I click on the icon for it to play it does nothing for a couple of seconds then pops up with a ‘we are getting your game ready’ message followed by another error message after that saying that I can’t open the game. I’ve tried everything (I think). I’m beyond frustrated. Been fricking with this bullshite on and off ever since last week.

Has this ever happened to anyone? What the hell am I supposed to do? Any help would be appreciated, TIA

**I've tried to uninstall it as well. Whenever I click ‘uninstall’, it does absolutely nothing. Literally nothing. Doesn’t even flinch

They had a big update for a new season the other day and the servers were fricked to the point that my squad couldn't get in all night.

They certainly could've fixed it by now but that's my only guess

We’ve dealt with that issue before, but this is different. Not the same problem. My younger son has his own Xbox in his room and he updated and isn’t having that issue.

Sounds like an issue my son had with Fortnite on his Xbox one a couple months ago. Google didn’t help. Any chance you have an external hard drive for the Xbox? If I remember correctly the external HD was too full to complete the update and we had to do something in the settings so that Fortnite was loaded on the actual Xbox one hard drive

I do have an external hard drive. It’s relatively empty and fortnite is installed on the regular storage device. I tried to swap it over to the external device but it didn’t move

If a hard reset is not working, perform a factory reset. You’ll need to dl your games again, but you should be able to play.

Been where you are, and the reset is a pain but it works.
