What is good about having flexibility and not needing to buy extra hardware? I think it speaks for itself? You're confusing me
I don't see what is controversial about expansion of options for people to get into gaming.

As far as performance it mostly a toss up. Some games have better framerates on the PS but may suffer bit on resolution vs the Series X or vice versa.
