Loved it until after the slums. I’m in a maze I can’t figure out or understand with the map. It was a great game but I’m about to abort. They did an atrocious job of navigating through the next part of the game and I ultimately gave up

While running around press X to open the command menu. You can use the cure spell or items.

You're supposed to use the big lights as a guide, kind of like big lighthouses.

I have no idea what I’m supposed to do at this point and had no trouble with the game prior which is why I absolutely hate this game now with a passion

Idk what to say, it's pretty straightforward. If you're in the inner plate follow the big arse lights.
If you are stuck just Google it and move on.
I got lost every step of the way in the original ff7 but I find they've done a good job with the remake as far as navigation goes.

All the big lights have been activated but it asked if I wanted to go back for materia? So I did. Big mistake cuz I’m lost as frick

You can pick up a summons materia by the big exhaust fans in that area once you turn off the lights. You can ride a lift by the main terminal that turns off the fans in H-01 across to a solo platform with a tall ladder, that takes you behind the exhaust fans to get the materia after you clear an objective. It's not required but you'll be giving up the materia.
