howdy fellas.

got fifa 10 on friday night. i don't know much about soccer, but its an awesome game.

im playing on amateur level (usually with barcelona) and i can get a ton of good shots off like 30 or so a game, i just dont get goals. i think ive got the kick power thing under control and only half of my shots go into the crowd, a vast improvment over "all of them."

my question is, how do you use the different shot types. LB chip shot, RB precision shot or just a normal shot.

thanks in advance. also, any other begginer help is much appreciated.

Precision shots if i am near the 18 and have a viable shooting lane.

Chip shots when it's 1 v 1 with the keeper.

Power shot (aka a laces shot) when i am trying to put a shot on frame from about 20-30 yards out.

depends on the situation. the finesse shot is best used at the 18 as early said. It's important to not be sprinting when taking shots. there are some instances like 1v1 where you are going to have to be sprinting. The chip shot the limited use of when you are on those breakaways with a defender on your side. If you have enough space on a break away, slow down and make a slight cut before shooting. The cut just kind of tells the computer which foot you are wanting to shoot with as it sometimes makes bad decisions. Headers are the hardest thing to get good at in this game. Just have to practice constantly with those.

ahh. thats probably my problem. i tend to take alot of shots with my wings sprinting in at 45 degree(ish) angles.

i understand the shallower the angle the less target you have, so ive been trying to attack more from the center...

didn't think about the sprinting as the culprit though. funny, ive been playing sports games my whole life and i forgot rule #1 of video game physics "sprinting decreases accuracy/effectivness by half... at least"

well if you like bringing your wingers at the corner of the box try and trigger a run early in the break. the supporting player will usually make a good run into the box where you can either pass or through ball around the defender. It doesn't work as well against human opponents who know to run with the other man though. if you see the defender playing the pass across the box sometimes you can cross to the back post, but it's pretty difficult to get it right. tons of options, the trick is choosing the right one.
