I've got like 100 plus hours playtime in ROS already and just picked up the plans for Cains Set the other day.
Haven't gotten any set pieces yet, and don't think I have Ashearas yet either.

Eh. It took them 2 years to get a new Act out (I know RoS and 2.0 had a lot more than just a new Act). If they really do skip the xpac and go just into D4 it will be many years before it happens. I will have gotten plenty of playtime out of D3 and RoS by then and really won't have many complaints.
The only Blizzard game to receive multiple expansions is WoW and eventually Starcraft II. Diablo II, Starcraft, and Warcraft 3 all only had one xpac.

Yeah but the road maps from Day 1 always showed 2 D3 expansions. That doesn't mean shtt I know, but it was in the plans slightly.
I thought Warcraft had 2 expansions? FT and RoC?

That gameplan has gone out the window. I don't think they saw the backlash against the AH and Jay Wilson happening. They had to completely change gears after that. So far it has worked out great with 2.0 and RoS, but who knows how that shift has affected their future plans for the series. They have also completely thrown out the project Titan time line as they are starting almost from scratch with that.
RoS just came out. I seriously don't think we'll hear much about an xpac/sequel for a while. Anything out there right now is probably just speculation. Aside from what I mentioned above, that time line has been pretty accurate at depicting the WoW xpacs and SCII xpacs, so there may be hope for a 3rd D3 xpac after all.

Reign of Chaos was just the title to the original Warcraft 3. It was Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.
Warcraft: Orcs and Humans had no xpac.
Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness had the xpac Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal.

I played the game and did not know this.
EDT: Then again, it was a time in my life where gaming just passed the time for 1-2hrs and I wasn't that into it.

I should know because WC3 was my first game that I put a lot of time into. I spent many nights playing custom games on battle.net into the early morning hours.
I still have both registered to my battle.net account, installed on my PC, and pinned to my task bar at the bottom.

Not a big little machine to play point and clicks like D3, LoL and DoTA during down times here.
The thing runs D3 flawlessly w/ Reflections/V-Sync and Shadows on Low @ 1080. Brought in a WiFi hotspot from home, will start playing some D3 during the down periods of the day.
This might become dangerous...
