Veal sweetbreads in enchiladas

Ate at El Tiempo in Houston with my in laws and had the veal sweetbread enchies. I knew in advance what sweetbreads are but I love veal.
My assessment- delicious. My sis-in-law was the only other person brave enough to try it. No go for her. I'd definitely order again.
Anyone else had this? Thoughts?

Sweetbreads are delicious, though I’m not sure I would be inclined to waste them in an enchilada.

Those are the best damn enchiladas I’ve ever had, bar none. I’ve told anyone who would listen that they’re wasting their time with anything else on the menu. We usually hit the Gessner location but I assume all the stores are now serving them. One can never go wrong by ordering Filet Asada La Tana and an enchilada mojella on the side. Adding a bowl of habañero salsa from the back will put hair on your chest.

We were at Gessner. I loved it and would get again, for sure. This is the only place I’ve ever seen it offered, so had to try it.

The funny thing is they’re one of the more reasonably priced items on the menu. It’s a little nuts when an $11 offal enchilada is considered ‘reasonably priced’ but that’s beside the point. I think most patrons turn their noses up at the thought of sweetbreads but the combination of spices and cheese make these a definite must-see. Mix in a pitcher of margaritas and you’ve got a lot to be thankful for.
