Went today to try it out so I'll give my review.
-tried two different pizzas the Pepperoni AF and the Coonass, also had the dessert pizza which I will get to.
- pepperoni af, load of pepperoni. Solid crunchy thin crust, will certainly get this again when I'm there. Great cheese, sauce, topping ratio for this pizza and with the crunch it never felt soggy or overwhelming.
- Coonass, great flavor first of all. My complaint was the boudin wasn't on all of the slices so it seemed inconsistent to me. Again had the solid crunch from the thing crust that it came on. Pieces with boudin provided more flavor than the plain pieces. The pork rinds that came on top tasted like typical store bought ones, nothing special about them.
- dessert pizza, comes with Nutella, marshmallows, chocolate pieces, graham crackers, strawberries. First there were only like 8 quarters of a strawberry on the pizza. Also marshmallow was not on every slice either and the graham cracker was non-existent. This was really a disappointment as CC's pizza does better dessert pizza.
- atmosphere was fine it is across from Gail's Ice Cream and has plenty of outdoor seating. Their indoor seating is limited to maybe 12-15 people it seems. We were the only ones outside so we listened to the cars pass. They had two fans running but the larger fan they couldn't get to work while we were there.
- beer, they had no draft while we were there so we stuck to mixed drinks. These only come in one size for the most part.
- cost, my tab was 110 for three pizzas (took a lot home), pixie bread (cheese bread) two beers, and two mixed drinks. They do charge for using a CC as well which was like $5.
Overall it really isn't a bad place. The pizza is excellent, with time hopefully their draft system gets working again. You have to go inside to order and they bring it to you outside so don't go expecting table service. I'd like to try a couple of their other pizza as well so I will be back. If you are a fan of thin crispy crust with loads of toppings then Var's is for you.
