You're saying just spray for mold and keep using it, or I'd have to get a whole new keezer?

I've built a few, so some advice. -Mount the collar to the door, not the base freezer. Easier to lift things in and out. -Go stainless taps. Stainless shanks, too. Buy once. Cry once. -Use anti-microbial beer line -You will get moisture and eventually mold/mildew in the keezer. Just a fact of life in the humid deep south. Spray it down and move on with life. -6' line is about the perfect length for dispensing at 10-12 psi. Enough resistance to keep from too much foam, yet still carbonated to the right level. -If you have a cat, get low-profile handles. Those assholes like to knock taps open.

An upright freezer basically alleviates all these problems. Don't have to build a collar, it is automatic defrost, easy to lift kegs in and out. Plenty of room with the shelves to store additional bottles and cans.

Yup. That's why I got away from chest freezers. I have an old upright fridge I got at the Habitat Restore for $75. The bottom is the kegerator and I can store hops and suet cakes in the freezer portion.

Just means you have to wipe it down every so often.

Good idea.

What size? Did you drill holes through the door?

Or is it small enough that you went out the top?

Any chance you can post a picture.

I think it is a 13.7 cubic foot upright freezer. I bought it off of craigslist like 6 years ago. I can fit four 1/6 barrel kegs on the floor and maybe five if I ever put the co2 tank outside.

Yep, just drilled right through the door. Can't drill many other places that don't have lines being run. Kegs go on the bottom and room for other beers on top.

Can post photos tonight.

Mine is pretty much identical to yours... except I put the 4 shanks right through the second shelf down instead of the top one. And I have a 20lb CO2 tank that sits outside and runs in.

Pretty sure it's the exact same model upright freezer though.
