Was going to do just a simple boneless pork shoulder butt roast, 8.5 lbs, in the slow cooker for 8 hours on low. Messed up and starting defrosting it too late so now I don’t have time to do 8 hours. Will cooking it in the slow cooker on high for 4 hours get the job done or should I scrap the idea all together and just cook it tomorrow instead?

I can have a Boston Butt falling off the bone in about 3 hours on the stove in a Magnalite roaster. Can you use the stove?

Yep. Can do the same in a regular cooking pot.
