My favorite casino to stay in or play in is Horseshoe. Binion's is very good, but like everyone said, a little pricey. None of the casinos really have any great restaurants within walking distance. People say Noble Savage or Blind Tiger, but neither of them are really great restaurants to me. The ambience is more bar like (later in the evening, they will have live music at Noble Savage and music or karaoke at Blind Tiger.) If you are looking for a pub-like atmosphere, the food is fine at either but not stellar.
Spend the $20 and get a cab. That way you can drink wherever you go and not worry about it.
Mexican Food - Tacomania is interesting (has a salsa bar), Nicky's and Trejo's are local favorites.
Steaks - I love Anthony's but I'm told it's very similar to the Cub as the owner used to work for the Cub. Both are small and locally owned.
Finer dining - Ernest's is delicious and well worth it if you are splurging for the weekend. 2John's is also good. Comparing the two, Ernest's is like old-school fine dining, owned by an older Italian man that just has them do food right. 2John's is more sleek and modern. The food is great at both places.
There are places that people would fight over who is best.
Just go to Locals Love Us and see who the locals recommend. Or search restaurant threads in Shreveport....this isn't the first time people have asked.
