And as someone mentioned earlier, are the new magnalites not any more good?
It's still a decent pot, just not the same quality as the older ones.

Can you only get magnalite's in LA? I have tried searching for them in Texas but can't find them.
And as someone mentioned earlier, are the new magnalites not any more good?
A company named Wagner in Ohio originally manufactured the original Magnalite... They later Marketed it as Wagnerware - Magnalite.
Very good cookware
They were all stamped on the bottom -
Magnalite by Wagnerware
Later the company was purchased by GHC (General home company) the same company who sold Chicago Cutlery. The used the exact design and were in essence the same as the original.
These were all stamped Magnalite GHC
GHC added a line called Magpro... very different cookware... sales flopped and the entire Magnalite line was sold to a Chinese company
"World Kitchen"
World Kitchen sells a similar line as the original called "Magnalite Classic". It is widely available at Wal-marts everywhere.
Magnalite Classic
Still a very good product, but not the same as, or as good as the originals.
Re-enter Wagnerware - the original company who designed Magnalite. They now make a line called Magware, which is supposedly identical to the original line.
Wagnerware
Now which one would I recommend to someone buy new
None of them...
I'd check out Mcware.
I have checked them out and they are identical to Magnalite IMO.
McWare
Except they are stamped on bottom
McWare - Mamou,Louisiana
Available online and at Hardware stores all over South Louisiana.

Here's another place to buy McWare. Only reason I post this is b/c they have an 8 piece set that if I was going to buy new cookware (which I hope to in a few years), I'd buy the 8 piece set they offer here along with one of the roasters and one of the stock pots.

I just bought a Green Pan from Chef Todd English. First non-stick that uses only metal, and can be heated to 800 degrees. I got the 11" grill pan. I should get it in the next day or two. I'll let you know how I like it.
First up will be barbecue shrimp.

I think I might look into some McWare.
And let us know about the Green Pan. That sounds interesting. I might have to check that out.

If you are in BR , check out the resale flea-market on North Sherwood, they have a place in there that has the best selction and prices that I have seen in BR. Finders Keepers I think is the name of the place.
