Looking for a good recipe and affordable but solid mezcal (if there's a thing). I don't normally do cocktails that aren't drowned in extra ingredients, but I do enjoy this particular drink. Any guidance would be appreciated

Our gotos for mezcal cocktails, usually ranch water are:

Madre Espadin ($33) or for an upgrade Madre Ensemble (orange label) ($55)
El Silencio espadin ($30)

Del Maguey Vida and Illegal also are good for cocktails.

ETA: Ive never done a mezcal OF but do use mezcal in margs and you want to go max 1oz mezcal to 1oz tequila. Most recipes say to use only .5 oz mezcal but I like mezcal neat so I go stronger.

My inspiration came from Hayride Scandal where they have tequila, mezcal, and agave, served with a massive ice ball.
