My first AI fast food drive-through experience

I never even knew these were coming but I had my first AI drive through experience at a Rally's. I hadn't had a Big Buford in a long time so went for a reminder. The entire experience at the speaker was done in AI- just like the phone prompter for many service calls for utilities and cell phones. It was almost the same female voice. I only heard the in-person worker break in to the process once at the end to clarify understanding of the order. Up to the window and there were only two workers in the location. I asked him if the AI helped or hindered him and he gave a little smirk while he was working on the next order. I guess this is where we're going. The Big Buford was fresh and good btw. Good value and the fries were great. Sad to say better than Sonic these days.

That's not "AI". It's a talk-to-text, scripted transcriber looking for keywords to create an order.
Cool? Yes, but it's not AI.

You say things like this with such surety.

There are several Taco Bell locations around us where there is only one register that’s closed half the time, they have screens where you have to go and order your own food, and they have workers in the back that make your shite
You just better not have to order anything special or customize, it is a royal pain in the arse to figure out how to modify something on the menu
I try to be a good sport, and after two minutes, I gave up and forced somebody to come out and just take my order at the register, it was frustrating as frick and not intuitive at all
They had the audacity to try to force me (and train me) how to use the screens, and I was like why don’t you just take my fricking order I didn’t come here to learn how to use a computer system I came here to eat
Dude was like “ok”

It'll be funny when the Popeyes AI still tells you to pull up and wait for the spicy.

Did you co-write the new angry generic Bill Burr movie about it?

Yes, it is AI.

AI has been around for decades. Generative AI is just a new frontier for AI.

Seems pretty straightforward at various locations I've been at
