Put the dry pan on the stove and get it ripping hot. Pour in some white vinegar and scrape the bottom vigorously with a wooden spatula.

Actually South Louisiana is not a good place to look for black iron cause we all like it so much any where in deplorable country say Mississippi to florida and north to Tenn and the carolinas You can make much better deals. You can find big jambalaya pots for 25$ or so just make sure no one drilled holes in the bottom for flower pots.
