I am going to be around the League City, TX area this week. Are there any places I should not miss? I am looking for casual spots, as we will have the kids. Willing to ride into the surrounding areas as well. Any suggestions on things to do would be appreciated also. Thanks.

Well, this is a first. Someone asing about my home. And with kids.

Jimmy changas - Very average Mexican with a giant play area for the kids.

Red river BBQ - Solid BBQ with a play area outside for the kids.

Samurai - Good, inexpensive hibachi. Very kid friendly

Suggestions for Good food:

Greek - Bakkus (Kemah)
Texmex - Chuys or Cafe Adobe. My favorite local taqueria just closed so I'm resigned to Chuys (small chain) until El Tiempo opens. La Brisa is pretty good to, with an excellent brunch on Sundays.

BBQ - Rudys or Red River mentioned above.
Thai - Merlion (delicious)
Chinese - 888
Steak - Perrys (get the pork chop, trust me)
Seafood - The Fish Place (cheap), Clarys in Galveston (more $$).
Kings Biergarden in Friendswood for German food and great beer.

Brazillian steakhouse - Tradiciao

I would also suggest making a 30 minute drive to Rudy & Paco's in galveston, even for lunch. My favorite restaurant on the island. Damn good.

Oh, and if you have boy kids, Twin Peaks is having bikini week this week. The Clear Lake location is...talented.

How old are the kids?

No too much to do close to League City other than shopping and some decent outdoor parks for the kids. NASA is pretty cool if the kids have never been. Kemah is one giant corporate advertisement for Tillman Fretitta, but enjoyable for the kids nonetheless.

Otherwise I suggest heading South to Galveston or North to Houston.

Moody Gardens in Galveston has plenty to keep you busy for a day, including Schitterbahn (older kids) or Palm Beach (younger kids). Palm beach will have the cleanest, nicest beach in the city b/c it's man made and on the Bay side.

Hoston has tons of shite to do. Circus is in town at Reliant stadium if that interest you. Otherwise, I'd tell you to do the zoo, childrens museum, or natural science museum.

Wow, thanks for all of the great information. All of this should eat up a good bit of our time there.

Thanks again.

Saw where the Hubcap Grill just opened in Kemah. Haven't tried this loc yet but the one in town makes a pretty good burger. Also, Boondoggle's on NASA Rd has large beer selection and pretty good pizza.

Me to. I saw Alisson Cook's write up on it.

She said it holds up to the standard of the downtown location, so I'll definilty be there soon to check it out.
