Have a weekend trip to Nola in early Feb, and would like to give Avo a try. It's been on my list for many years, but never got around to try it. I don't see it mentioned on here too much. Just curious if it's worth a rare date night.

Bistro Daisy and Brigtsen's are other options, but it's been 4-5 years since I've been to both.

Went around Thanksgiving and would return. Good food and service. Nothing earthshakingly amazing but very solid. The other Uptown "date night" Italian place I would consider is San Lorenzo.

Not a diss on Vincent's. It's just a different vibe

Looking forward to what the Costera guys do with their place. And not Uptown, but excited for Tana in OM.

That Elk was one of the nicest dishes I have had in a while. I hadn't had elk other than ground or roast before that meal and when they said steak I kind of was meh, thought it would be tough.

I was dead wrong, like a prime rib type of texture going on, but had that nice elk flavor.

Love this place

Haven’t been in a while

Charred octopus and the Lasagna

Maybe the best Lasagna I’ve ever had

Went Saturday night. It was a top 3 meal for me in recent memory.

Started with the charred octopus and Caesar salad. I love how they crumble the croutons so you're not biting into a hard square. The octopus was different, but tasty. Really meaty.

Wife had the gulf fish and I had the veal parmesan. They did not have the elk steak as it was a special not served that night. I really wanted to try the lasagna, but I'm a sucker for veal. Had a side of truffle gnocchi and succotash.

Finished with pistachio almond gelato and a chocolate gelato. Service and ambiance were top-notch. Very lovely evening. I typically don't go to the same restaurant twice in a year when traveling to Nola, but I will be back this year.

Now I need to check Saba and Saffron off my list.
