Frying Turkey: Question and TTP

I don't think this will be an issue, but I want to tap F&D knowledge to be on the safe side.
Will having 2-3 crumpled aluminum foil balls between the fryer basket and the bottom of the pot be a problem? I want to create a larger gap so the basket is not as close to the heat source, but I'm worried about potentially fouling the oil.
It has been over ten years since I've fried a bird and I'm doing one tomorrow. I have the basics down (measuring the oil level, dry bird, start at 375, etc.), but welcome any tips I may have forgotten or never knew.
TIA

Your bird is obviously going to be a a stand that will support it off the bottom, why are you looking for the extra spacing?

No stand. I have a pot and a basket.
I used to have a spacer to put in the pot that provided some clearance but I've lost it.
