I wrote a negative one recently.
SwampAngel recommended a casual seafood place in our downtown square area, so I went to check it out. It was packed, with a wait for a patio table. But the place next door had plenty of seating (red flag) and was a cuban place. "How bad could their cuban sandwich be?" I said to myself. All I really wanted was a mediocre lunch and a couple beers on the patio. Boy was I disappointed. Their cheeseburger kids meal was more impressive than either of their signature sandwiches, the beans and rice on the side were underseasoned and I wonder if they were seasoned at all. Like literally beans cooked in water with no salt, no nothing. From a cuban place, I expect a little bit of brightness and boldness from the staples like beans and such.
Damn now yall got me all mad about this place again.

I travel a lot for a living. Yelp, Trip Advisor, and Google Reviews have put me on a bunch of mom and pop restaurants that were great and I would have never found them without their assistance. If I came here looking for recs every time I needed one I’d be asking pretty much all week long. I think you are being a little harsh.
OP I’ve left reviews before. Typically it’s when I really like a place or a specific dish. A few times I’ve left a bad review but only when the food was disgusting. Often you have to sift through the Karen’s and Ken’s complaining about anything and everything, but a lot of people genuinely really try to point you in the right direction. I use that stuff for locating good hotels. It’s kind of nice to read reviews that truly help my travels more pleasant such as this hotel is next to a railroad track, under renovation, in a bad neighborhood, etc.
