CounterSpaceBR to replace old Gov't Taco location

In January, CounterspaceBR will open a third location in the Mid City neighborhood, taking over the former Gov't Taco building, 5621 Government St., Baton Rouge.

While the Bocage location offers a retail selection, grab-and-go options and daily treats, the Government Street location will feature breakfast and expand Counterspace's kitchen footprint. "Counterspace Mid City," as owner Sarah Joy Hays refers to it, will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offer seating, breakfast options, coffee and baked goods. Some of the menu items will include breakfast tacos with gluten-free, house-made tortillas, biscuit sandwiches, cinnamon rolls and quiche by the slice.

“I’m excited to have space to triple our king cake output come January as well as dive into breakfast and coffee! It has been a joy and privilege to serve Baton Rouge through baked goods, and I’m excited for all the ways this expanded kitchen space will allow us to grow!” Hays said in a news release.

Hays recently announced that she was expanding the brand to Zachary as well, with a location in The Press, a 119-year-old house in the Historic District.

Counterspace Mid City will open at the beginning of January, while Counterspace Bocage will announce Hanukkah and Christmas menus this week.
