Chicago Brewery News - Hop Butcher taproom opening this week!

Where are you staying, specifically? If you can pop on the Brown Line at Clark/Lake, it should take less than 40 minutes to get to the front door at Hop Butcher. Takes longer if you get on at Washington/Wells, for example, because you have to circle The Loop before heading north.

There really aren't breweries in the immediate downtown area. Crushed By Giants is near Mag Mile, and it's from the same owners as Corridor and Dry Hop in Lake View. The beer is fine, I guess. Lol. Corridor, specifically, really fell off when Eric Padilla left a few years ago.

Closest to downtown I can think of is Goose Island, Midwest Coast and On Tour in West Town. Can take Green/Pink to Ashland, but you'll have to walk a little. Other than that, most Chicago breweries are in Logan Square, Lincoln Square and North Center.

In the end, if you're an IPA guy, I'd just recommend taking the train to Hop Butcher. Fantastic hazy.

Got it! That's closer to the lake in Streeterville, so that does add more time... You could grab Red Line at Chicago and transfer to Brown at Fullerton or Belmont. Alternatively, Lyft/Uber prices have become very, very reasonable in the city. Since The Ritz is a quick jump on LSD, you can take rideshare to Hop Butcher. Their taproom is open until 10pm Tuesday through Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

Unfortunately, the better hazy breweries are not the most-conveniently located from the Red Line. However, I'd still recommend taking the time for Hop Butcher. The Bad Apple almost directly across the street and makes a fantastic burger, if you want to make it worthwhile for food.
