YOu can get a ten lb bag of leg quarters for around five bucks.

I have a mental guide to kartoffen zuppe that makes Germans go nuts for it. Potatoes boiled in chicken stock to the point that are disintegrated(if the product is too watery to your liking add some instant mashers to thicken it. To this add one or two links of andouille, 1/4 to 1/2 of a head of cabbage coarsely chopped, 4-6 sliced carrots, and sour cream for both coloration of the product and flavor. Salt and pepper to your taste. When the carrots are tender(not mush) it is done. The end product is similar in texture to a chowder. I use a 12 qt stock pot to do it, and can make many meals out of it.

Pull up food network on the computer and there is a cook that does all types of low cost meals, her show comes on Sunday mornings. Melissa is her first name.
