15 grams of water for each gram of coffee, pour it just off of boil and let steep 4 minutes. I usually stir after I have all of the water in. Sometimes I add a pinch of salt to the grounds before I pour. Dont press all the way to the bottom and into the grounds. Also dont pour all the way to the bottom and you will not get all of the grit. Use a wire strainer when you dump the press to catch the grounds and then you can dump that in the trash.

I dump the grounds into azalea or camellia flower beds right out my kitchen door since they like high acid soil.

Be sure to do a 45-60 second bloom before fully steeping, google can explain the importance better than I can. I also scoop some grinds from the top before pressing, helps on cutting down solids. Also, French press isn’t worth doing unless you’re using good, fresh coffee. It extracts more flavor, which might not be desirable if you’re using Schwag-tier, pre-ground beans.

I like pour-overs too, but the body just doesn’t compare to French press. I also don’t find the cleanup to be much an issue. I know this isn’t recommended, but I’ve been rinsing the grounds out in the sink and letting them go down the garbage disposal.

All I have ever done. Not sure what the issue is.

Supposedly it could cause a clog per various internet articles, but if you can’t put coffee grinds down the disposal, what can you put?

It does at least kept odors at bay.

Not really important when you're doing full immersion such as FP or Clever Dripper. If you're doing a regular pour over, you want to bloom so that the coffee releases CO2. After that, the coffee extracts much better for the remainder of the pour. Think of the coffee expelling gas which repels the dissolving of solids during that first 3o seconds.
