So I was planning on making a trip over to the Mississippi River next Tuesday and Wednesday to show a German exchange student friend of mine the mighty Mississippi. Had the trip planned for about a month now. We were planning on staying in Baton Rouge, touring Baton Rouge the first day, fishing and traveling back the second. Aaaand enter flood.

My relatives in BR say the levee is as high as theyve seen it in a long time. The brunt of the flood hasnt even made its way down. Rain is heading that way.

Will I even be able to make it there on I-10 coming from Houston? And even if I do, is the river even going to be accessible to bank fishers? Or should I just tell him its having a 100yr flood and we should just go to South Padre?

Thats what I figured. Just thought itd be worth asking. Was really hoping to get him a big river cat. Maybe later.

Hope all yall stay safe. Us Texans are prayin for yall.

Side note : If the river ends up dumping into the Atchaflaya, will the I-10 Swamp Bridge be submerged? It only sits 20ft over most of the Basin
