Question about Simmesport area

My dad & brother have a camp I guess northeast of Simmesport, I was told about 200 yards from the Red River. They went last weekend and took everything out ... doors and all. EVYERTHING that could be removed.
My question is that every time a "potential flood map" is shown water is never shown in this area of their camp. ???? The only thing that we can figure is that they're showing ONLY Mississippi River flood water and where it's diverted too.
Is there anyone here from this area?
Oh, and the camp DID flood in 1973 ... up to the bottom of the electric outlets from what I'm told.

Thanks for the directions. I'm 45 minutes from there and very familiar with that area.
Nah, seriously, it will flood there. My brother-in-laws camp is near that area.

I walked up to the top of the fuse plug levee in 73 the day before they opened Morganza. Everything in there flooded and water was up to a couple feet from the top of that levee. Don't see how it can get much higher in there without topping that fuse plug levee. But if you got water in 73, you will get water this time. Crest will be higher everywhere.

water is there now. at 35 feet that area floods. and at noon today it was measured at 40 feet. i heard from someone that lives in big bend and from another poster that the big bend/simmesport cut off road is flooded.

Thanks ... I guess I appreciate it. It IS only a camp but it's their sanctuary and 2nd home. They've got flood insurance but only what the original owner had way back when and it's not much but I guess it's something.
I'd appreciate any updates from those that live near there.

In our area of the parish, i dont think the water will get to 73 levels. Possibly within aabout 3-4 ft, but i think we will be less in our area.
