We got any painters in the house?

I'm mid-way through a project to transfer a design I did on Photoshop onto canvas:



My friend and I brew beer and that's our logo I designed. I kinda like the way it turned out so I thought I'd see what I could do with acrylic paint on canvas (haven't painted since elementary school )

Here's the steps I've taken.

Grid lines to transfer in correct proportions


Drew in main elements (sorry this is kinda dim)


Slapping on a little bit of black paint


Clean up the black silhouettes and start the logo


Start putting color


Anyways, I'm making decent progress just doing the basic colors, but I was curious if any of you have experience painting and might lend advice to me regarding gradients and grunging it up a little bit without there being too much contrast in the paint to where it doesn't look natural.
