The Midnight Ride of Mike the Tiger - help?

I have downloaded gimp, but so far I feel like one trying to use it so far.
What I was trying to do was make an avatar with Paul Revere making his ride, but with the tiger from the LSU helmet in place of his face, under the Paul Revere hat, with LSUinMA at the bottom. All I succeeded in doing besides making a hash of it is reversing the tiger head so that it lines up.
Would someone be kind enough to do this for me? Many thanks!

Quick version:
Gimp is probaby a more powerful program but PAINT.NET is much more intuitive. It's freeware tool. Give it a try. I used it exclusively.
