All the videos you use for source material... Where do you find it and how do you capture it?

Probably just goes to blockbuster and rents the movies. Then captures it into his computer and cuts out 75% of the video in order to make it sizable as a .gif.
If you have an apple, you can capture anything that is shown on the screen, and it turns into a quicktime which can be edited in after effects, final cut pro and photoshop.
But I dont know exactly how LSUFREEK does it, and I would also like to know.

I can't speak for the freek, obviously, but there are two programs that I use to make animated .gif's like his. Both are free, but if you install them, be sure to uncheck the box that installs the ask.com toolbar. The company is DVD Videosoft, and the programs are youtube to ipod converter, and video to jpeg converter.
The youube to ipod converter lets you download youtube clips for source material in m4v format, and the video to jpeg converter extracts individual frames from the video that you can then layer into animated .gifs with Photoshop.

can you layer them into animated .gifs with another program other than Photoshop?

I have heard you can use some free program known as GIMP to make .gifs - but I have always used PS. I am using CS4 right now. The name GIMP kinda freaks me out...
