Need some help creating an animation

Trying to make an animated version of the Mac pinwheel of death. Found a good source image, and figured I'd just throw it in GIMP to animate it. The only issue is that I'm only about 180 degrees through the rotation, and the file is almost 2GB.
Exported out it's fine, though. Anyone have suggestions on an easier/better way to do this?

Is the problem that it's taking to long to complete or the image is getting to big to host somewhere?
If your looking for a short cut, could you open the file twice and spin one 180 degrees and then combine them somehow? I would think it's possible but not sure how I would go about doing it.

Not hosting...once it's exported it's pretty small. My machine's just choking on working with the file.
