Looking to get into logo design

As much time as I have been wasting I figure I met as well put it towards something productive. With summer coming up I have decided I want to learn some type of computer program that benefits my creative side. I have been reading up on logo design and was wondering if Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop would be the best bet. I get student discounts and although I would rather not buy both that is a possible option. For anyone who was a graphic design major or creates logos in their free time, please fell free to leave your opinion.

this is easy, illustrator, no question. Photoshop is for photo manipulation only, such as farks.
Good luck!
Here's a goog design blog btw that features logo critiques. It helps a lot to form an opinion and then read why others think it works or doesn't work. Learning the program is no big deal, just a tool to bring your logo into production. It would also be wise to buy a book or two on design, to help you learn some principles of type and design.

quote:Thanks for the link. I want to be to separate myself in the future on a resume or just with some sort of computer skill. I have always been intrigued by design and logos so I figured I would try it out. I am a business major and I am working on my own company so I will be attempting to teach myself. Won't be easy but like I said, I waste to much time doing other pointless shite.

Good luck. It's not easy and yet it's easy at the same time. There is a lot of people that do this. I just got mine going. It took a lot of work to get to this point.

I do different things, but mainly cut vinyl decals.
