is there anyway a program like photoshop or any other photo editing software can turn the first pic into the second pic?
i find it hard to believe that an update can change something like this so dramatically. also, here's the link to the article... LINK

I can't figure out for the life of me whey a screw driver would appear in the hd pic. There is prob a little bit of exaggeration going on.

Dang. I didn't even realize that.

By now many know that the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 has an optional high resolution texture install, but many wondered what kind of difference players might expect.
The install is just simply replacing the existing textures with ones that have more detail in them.
Think of it this way. You draw a wireframe picture. It has all of these spaces in between the wires. The GPU takes these textures (basically little pictures), and puts them into the spaces between the wires. Then you see the whole completed picture. This upgrade more than likely creates more wireframe spaces to put the textures, and replaces those textures (little pictures) with ones that have more detail in them.
The end result is a sharper overall picture.
So it is not really taking an existing image and sharpening it like you would in photoshop...

well, why would an original game look like early ps2 graphics? i know this is the wrong board as far as games are concerned, but i would expect more from finished product.

i didn't read the article when I posted earlier and was under the impression that was the difference between hd and non hd setup (hdmi+hdtv vs composite+nonHDTV) an actual upgrade is a different story.
quote:Could be a list of reasons for this. Off the top of my head: save space on disc and (possibly) to allow the optical drive to read the disc more seamlessly for better and smoother gameplay; to make sure they got the game out on the anticipated release date,

There is more than just the screwdriver that is different.
Screwdriver, battery, straps around the phone, wires, remote control

I realized that. Screwdriver just seemed theoddest thing to add.
Someone on the website in the link commented they see a teddy bear leg in one of the corners. Am I blind, cuz i see no such thing.

Ohhh. This is one of those "spot the differences" games! You missed the 6th one.

After spending about ten minutes reading about it on a couple of sites, apparently the game was too large too all fit on one DVD. So they put the main game on the one disc, and added the extra 1.5 gigs of hi-res stuff to the second DVD...
The PS3 has it all on one Bluray disc because it has the capacity...

quote:xbox went with the HD-DVD format as a add on. Too bad they released the console about a year before HD-DVD's completely dissapeared. Thats really restricting them and may push them to release a 3rd gen xbox sooner than the ps4.

There are 2 legs pointing at roughly 5 o'clock and 3 o'clock just below the front right corner of the table. They are hard to see with the background being so dark but they are there.
