GIF makers (calling Freek) what software do you use?

what software do you use to make animated gifs? I am a pro at photoshop and I have used animation software for gifs before, but none that will let me use layers ala photoshop to like put a head on someones body and be able to change the angle, etc for each frame via something similar to free transform, and copy it to all frames, etc.
