oh well you'll actully need adobe after effects.
this is what I suggest, download adobe photoshop cs5 master edition or whatever comes with after effects (hope you can use torrents)
then watch this video:

see if that helps. if you want to learn you'll have to watch a lot of videos/read tutorials

You don't need AE at all actually. I do all mine is CS3 and CS5. Not sure why everyone thinks that
Anywho, as far as putting the coaches faces or adding other elements, you'll have to get separate images and condense the size to fit the profile of the coach (in this example). From there, you have to mimic the motions of the coach and adjust the heads to follow the motion. For example, when the "coach" turns his head, you'll need another image to mimic the head turning motion.
One thing to remember though, you'll need several different layers in addition to the layers you've already imported. These layers will be the "coaches head" layers.
Let me know if you still don't understand and I'll show you via Skype or something.

well, i'm already using AE now. i've got the tracking and assigning the head to the tracker down. now i'm stuck at getting the layer to turn off at a specific time so i can move on to the next head. FML.
eta: figured it out. shouldn't be long now. lol

I do most of mine purely in PS as well.

lol@your avatar. Good stuff man.
I personally have never used AE for mine although I hear AE is great for video editing. Do you know how to do it on PS as well or just AE?
I have AE but haven't tinkered with it yet. Either way, they all come out relatively the same

Well, i got the gif done. But the file size is too big to upload. Wat do you guys use. Its 8.51 MB.

Photobucket for me but a lot of people are anti Photobucket for some reason. 8.5mbs is wayyyyy big bro, plus I don't think TD even allows files that big although I could be wrong.
If you dither it, the size will shrink significantly, but also the lossness and resolution.

Nah I'm not familiar with doing it solely in PS. I'd like to learn though. How you you get one layer to follow another in PS?

can you guys shrink the file size for me? i'm at work and can't do it. i can email it to you if want.

Steps are as follows (for PS anyway):
1. Import Layers to Frames (this is where the sizing [or resizing for that matter] will come into play. Depending on the number of frames you actually import will determine the size of the gif +/- a few other variables. If you have a large video, you'd obviously not want to import the whole video, but only the consecutive frames you'd like to use. PS limits the frames to 500 or so anyway.
2-5. Where all the magic happens
6. From there, it's just a matter of saving for Web & Devices and uploading it to a server (Photobucket, Flickr etc.). This is also an area where you can decrease the file size in terms of resolution.
7. Hilarity ensues
My advice is to learn it on your own through practice. I'm not a graphic designer by any stretch, but I did teach myself through trial and error. Next time I make one, I'll screencap the steps for a visual

Sweet thanks man. Yea using after effects isn't bad but can be kind of confusing. I'm much better in PS. Believe me, I'm no graphic design artist either, taught myself the little I do know by watching tons and tons of YouTube videos. Ill try it when I get home, see what I can come up with
Thanks again
Thanks again

No worries brother - let me know how it turns out. Sounds to me like you have the basics already down, now the creativity has to come into play.
Posted on 10/31/12 at 12:19 pm to idlewatcher
It can be done with or without After Effects. Personally, I do all mine with After Effects. It gives me the option of a motion tracker that Photoshop does not have, plus a shitload more effects.

Hey man, how big are your gifs usually? Are there any sites that host big sized gifs? 8.5 MBs is what mine is.
Posted on 10/31/12 at 12:50 pm to finchmeister08
Fliiby.com is unlimited size
