If he's 20, yes. 30, no.

I gave up Vuc to get him. His value will go down when Parker returns but long term he looks like the next great spur. Ginobili was saying in the preseason that he's a future all-star.

a couple of thoughts:

this embiid-simmons pick and roll is already one of the nastiest things i've ever seen on a court. i don't know how you stop it.

simmons took and made his first shot over 15' last night.

his handle looks great. super clean. he's still passing up open 3s and it led to some bad mistakes. once the scouting report is out on him. they're literally going to zone him up and dare him to shoot. but he's being really aggressive on the drive. love seeing it..

and this, this is the one thing i was never unsure about: i think simmons has entered the league as a top 10 passer. his ability to make clean passes on the money from weird angles because of his height is just top notch.

so crazy to have two rookies with elite passing skills. it's rare to have even one come in this precocious, and simmons and ball both have it.

The scary thing is Embiid isn't even good in the pnr yet. Still figuring out the timing and footwork and rarely sets a solid screen.

Teams know the scouting report on Ben, guys are playing 4 feet off him but that just gives him a running start at the rim. He needs to improve his finishing but most guys get better at that.

well his 5-7 foot standing, kind of hook/floater/one handed jumper was working last night. if he can always get that deep a penetration, it's amazing. they're setting a lot of picks for him, and he's using that to advance deep.

what i mean though is that essentially they'll be doubling him with a perimeter player, then contesting the kick out. it's not something he can't overcome. but they're not gonna keep guarding him 1 on 1 all season.

simmons kind of has that lebron thing where he always makes the right pass. so i think teams will rely on that.

and if he gets a DECENT jumper. i'd revise my upside to superstar instead of allstar.

also for the record, player rater simmons 29, Dlo 31.

yeah, holy shite right?

also, it's crazy to see embiid put it on the floor the way he does. so smooth.

I think people forget that players develop shooting over time. What you can't teach are the instincts and athleticism. People dared LeBron to shoot when he was younger. Karl Malone, a different type of player, came into the league with no shot and ended up having one of the best midrange strokes ever by the end of his career. Simmons is going to be a monster, top 10 player within the next couple of years as long as he is healthy.
