Obviously my closer situation is horse trash. But surely Lawrie can net me more than a closer (ew).

This is a keeper so guys like Machado and Myers have extra value, but I can only keep 5... so that makes it tougher.

Guy who wants him has the following interesting pieces:

Wieters
Napoli
Ortiz
Gallardo
Dickey
Jaime Garcia
Hamels (maybe make a buy low run?)

You already have your five keepers in Heyward, Mccutchen, Felix, Price, and verlander.

No reason to hold Myers, Lawrie, or Machado. Get as many productive 2013 players as you can get. Napoli and Ortiz are good ideas. Grab some high end closers. I don't see why you would keep any of them unless you plan to sell one of your aces.

Well, we do an arbitration scale, so depending on the year drafted, I have to pay a "penalty" to keep guys.

I have three aces because I drafted Verlander in the 6th two years ago, so kept him at that value and then drafted Felix/Price high.

McCutchen (3rd), Beltre (5th), Heyward (7th), Verlander (6th), Cespedes (14th) were my keepers.

Verlander's price will move up to a 5th this year, I believe. McCutchen up to a 2nd.

Myers is a 19th. Machado is a 10th.

Felix is a 1st. Price is a 2nd.

ETA: What I'm saying is that there is value to keeping a guy like Cespedes for such a low price tag.

Ok, never mind. Just figured it was straight forward keepers.

Still, trade Lawrie For a strong bat like Napoli or Ortiz or a top closer. I don't think highly of him in fantasy at all.

I would do it, especially if Lawrie will just be floating between the dl and your bench. Do you want/need qs and strikeouts? Gallardo can be a pain to own, but he gets it done.

I'd try Lawrie/Martinez for Hamels/closer and see what he responds with. I wouldn't do it... but you never know, he might.

I'm 4th in Ks, 3rd in QS, 5th in W, ERA and WHIP.

But after Price, Verlander and Felix, my next best guy is probably Hellickson or Niese.

So it could help.

He has 4 closers, I could see if he'd be interested in something like:

Lawrie + Niese for Gallardo + any CL he has (Mujica, Rivera, Street, Balfour)?

He asked about my aces, and then countered with Beltre for Gallardo + a Closer.

You do not need a 4th starter on your team and closer that bad.

I'd cancel that with the quickness.

Your team looks really good... all you need to do is some tweaking with your spare parts, not anything drastic.

Kinda what I'm thinking too.

My bats have been ice cold, so I'm in 8th right now. But I figure they'll get it going.

Looks like a pretty fair deal on paper.

With that said, you should ask yourself if you believe Cingrani will stay in the rotation or not. Because if he does, is a full season of him worth an injury prone closer who hasn't even averaged 30 saves throughout his career(only 2 in 8 seasons)?

I like the upside better personally so I'd say screw the closer. Move Lawrie for Gallardo straight up if you're that interested in upgrading your strong staff as is. Hellickson and Dempster more than serves their purpose at the back end of the rotation.

Give me Gallardo/Street

Gallardo should get you 200 K's and Street is excellent when healthy.

Lawrie is a bench guy on your team unless he starts hitting and Cingrani is good but he'd tail off even if he stuck, which I don't think he will unless there's an injury

You have better options at keeper
