We can start whenever. It doesn't matter to me.
But to those wanting to start now, 31 is on the clock.
Two years ago, he drafted a player in the first round who then tore his ACL like the next day (Stroman). So don't get your hopes up of him picking before the scheduled next Monday start.

Just curious, why didn't we start today instead on next Monday? Would just make more sense to go ahead and start with it being a slow draft.

the "week layoff" is for team's to have ample amount of time to sift through the players available.
No pressure for anyone to make a pick; it's a slow draft. Pick when you want. If 31 wishes to choose now, then DJ is up. No pressure. Pick when you're ready.
If 31 isn't ready, he's not ready.
