He has plenty of momentum heading into 2011, having hit .330 with four home runs, a .952 OPS and a 21-to-19 strikeout-to-walk ratio in the final month last year. At age 24, he has yet to reach his physical prime, and at 6-feet-4, he likely has more power in store. And obviously, his walk rate is encouraging for a player so young, his 72 walks tying him for 29th among all hitters last season

Mets manager Terry Collins has already raved about 1B Ike Davis this spring, but the second-year first baseman also has another big fan in Braves 3B Chipper Jones. “I don’t think I’ve seen a guy, pound for pound, with more pop than he’s got,” Jones told the New York Daily News of Davis. “It’s just a matter of him getting his reps in, seeing the league a couple times, and getting comfortable. He showed me enough last year to impress me. He’s very slick at first, a well-rounded ballplayer. If he connects, the ball will hit the Grand Canyon.”
20 bombs as a rook ain't too bad. It's pretty encouraging to me.

I'm hoping to catch a few games at Enron this season. Will be cheering for the Astros to suck.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy told reporters after Wednesday night's spring game against the Diamondbacks the reason Matt Cain is scratched from Thursday's spring start is because of elbow inflammation. An MRI confirmed the injury. Bochy hopes Cain will only miss one start. Cain began to feel soreness in the elbow after tossing two scoreless innings Sunday. “He just felt it a little bit, that’s all,” Bochy said. “Now’s the time to back it off and let it calm down.”
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

Casey McGehee had three hits, including two home runs, and four RBI to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 12-5 spring victory Wednesday against the Cubs. McGehee, who signed a one-year contract earlier in the day, hit a two-run homer against Carlos Silva in the first, a solo shot off James Russell in the third and a run-scoring single in the fourth. "I feel pretty good, but there still is stuff I need to work on," said McGehee, who hit .285 with 23 homers and 104 RBI last season. "To have a day like this at the beginning of the spring is not really that realistic because guys are working on pitches and they don't want to be walking guys."

Cain has been a machine over the last three years.

Yeah, I know. I don't like the fact that his shite is fricked up already though.

I went through that with Anderson last year. He was primed for a breakout year and he had lingering elbow problems the entire first half. It made me even more jaded, regarding pitchers.
