Interesting Popular Vote Numbers

2008 McCain - 59,948,323
2012 Romney - 60,933,504
2016 Trump - 59,135,740
To Trump's credit he changed the electoral map by energizing the working class white vote in the rust belt. Combined with how terrible of a candidate Hillary was, he was able to pull off an impressive upset.
Also, I was wrong and many Trump supporters here were right.

Black people didn't vote like they did with Barry.
In hindsight, its pretty absurd people expected them to.

I didn't think they would. I just didn't expect Penn, Michigan and Wisconsin to flip like they did.

Trump pulled the party back to the party of the working class people. GOP take note.

Yeah I agree but those dense "urban" counties really let Hildawg down in those states as much as working class whitey helped Trumper.
They clearly just didn't give AF.

That's exactly it. It was the combination of the unenthusiastic urban vote, the enthusiastic rural vote and the disenfranchised Bernie supporters that made a perfect storm for Trump in the rust belt.

Someone said last night that white voters make up 70% of the electorate. The dems play identity politics with smaller and smaller groups to where eventually people will get pissed and just want to be Americans.

Those numbers are incomplete. Romney had less votes than McCain the Wednesday after losing. Give it a week or so and I'd bet that Trump's numbers are higher than both. All the votes aren't counted yet.

Very well said. I think that is a big part of why they lost.

Recall that Clinton gave a speech about equality of opportunity wearing a $13,000 coat.
