First, I'm shocked/surprised in my fellow Americans. I had optimism, but I didn't believe Americans would elect Trump. Voters tend to make their minds up on an issue or 2, and then ignore the noise. This election showed that many Americans absorbed all of the information and didn't get smoke screened by the media. Trump had his flaws and I strongly believed they would hinder him from getting the necessary votes. I worried people would cast their vote based on superficial issues with the candidate, rather than focusing on the things that matter.

The issues that matter.. Well lemme say this. Liberalism has a place in this country. You need liberals to think outside of the "box", and they are uniquely able to challenge the conservative status quo. With that said, you can't have liberals running the United States of America. You get a government that will become a socialist state. Their need/want to make everyone equal is noble but foolish, and it would have lead to a US that was a shell of it's former self. Liberals, I appreciate your place, but please understand you can't run this country for an extended period of time.. It's for your own good.

Right the issues.
Abortion- Many are split here, but what rational person agrees it's ok to abort late term. I understand there are unique situations where an abortion could save the mother's life. I think that's the doctors call and should be made in the moment. Don't give an out to the irresponsible, because certain doctors would soon find any reason to abort late term babies.. This topic is shitty

2nd amendment- If STATES want to put legislation in place, go for it. It's not ok for the government to amend or limit the 2nd amendment.

Immigration- How can any sane person, truly believe illegal immigration is just ok? There's a process for joining this great nation. This is a country of immigrants.. Just follow the process

There's tons of other issues..namely jobs, but the main issue for me in this election was breaking the political establishment up. Trump offers a unique opportunity for the US. This is not a career politician. This is a man late in life trying to do what's best for the country he loves. Trump with senate and house control has the unique ability to get things done most republicans or democrats wouldn't dare attempt. PRESIDENT Trump has the keys to the country. I have high hopes because he should be able to garner serious support in both the House and Senate.

I'm rambling here.. I just wanted to convey how important this Trump victory was for the "average" American... Rest easy tonight or rather this morning, the America we love is still here to stay

I like everything you said. You speak with rationale.

I concur. They love to say he won the uneducated vote. What that really means is he won the people who keep this country going with their hard work and determination, and who have not been represented. These people have watched as their costs continue to rise to fund illegals and people who refuse to work. They finally reached their breaking point.

On the other side, half the country is pissed and terrified right now. Also the rest of the world, that is not good. Trump has a tremendous responsibility, I hope he does a good job to heal the country and not take his presidency for granted. But I'll be honest, I have my doubts.

Yea that's been a big talking point. He got over 40% of the women vote also though. Against a female candidate who was expected to dominate the women vote, but by much more.

This is real and many of the other half will never accept or listen to reason with Trump. It would have been similar if Hillary would have won. I do think he will be better than what he has portrayed. There are a lot of smart people around him that will keep him focused. He's only given one speech, but I hope it's a sign of how he will act. The world will calm in time. Hell, Russia causes a lot of unrest. If we can work together, that's a HUGE plus. Don't prostrate yourself to Putin, be firm but negotiable.

I would disagree on this. The Right of the People to keep and bear arms is just that, the Right of the People.

It is a God-given and unalienable Right that, according to the Constitution, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

The States do not have the Power to infringe upon a Right. If they did, the 2nd Amendment would have never been written. It would have fallen under the 10th Amendment instead. The 14th Amendment goes on to secure the People's Right to keep and bear arms from being infringed upon by the States.

So, in other words, "arms" are as inseparable from a Person as oxygen, food, and water are. Neither the Federal or State governments have the Power to regulate them... at least, Constitutionally speaking.
