Interesting how this comes the day after Dre Kirkpatrick visits...
Not really, he’s only going to get about the vet minimum at this stage of the game. It’s not much more than what he got last year and he’s a year older now.

If Kirkpatrick's cap # is anything over 1.1 mil, then we had to make a move. We wouldn't have enough cap space to sign him for 1.1 mil or more.

His contract was restructured which means he will lose almost no money if he gets suspended at the start of the season. So everybody wins

I think based on his years, his salary should be around that number for one year. But with the vet minimum salary rule, only half that amount counts toward the cap. So explain why we need to open all kinds of cap space to sign someone that would count cap wise to the equivalent of a 3rd year player off the street?
This only makes sense if we trying to sign Sherman or Nelson, both of whom will likely get more than the vet min.

But the effective net increase will be the difference between this (potential) contract and the one at the bottom of the salary cap list….correct?

yep. We had 356 k to spend, & I think it was a little more than that.

Lowest cap number before the Top 51 cutoff is $780,000.
