'Foreclosure moratorium/mortgage forebearance' - resources and questions

I'm about to try and figure out what is actually going on with the foreclosure moratorium...

My thought without reading much is that if this economic slowdown/shutdown is half as bad as it seems, there should be a serious backlog of foreclosures being executed in the next year. There are just too many things that don't make sense.

If you have some good info/articles/reading, please feel free to share here-

Most recent data had ~4% of mortgages 90+ days late. The number is down a good bit from the pandemic highs, but is about 4x higher than the prepandemic level.

It seems that one of the options that the federal government is going to try to play is to continue the moratorium until that delinquent number is closer to pre-pandemic 1%?
