1st and 10, and everyone knows that all the Saints need do is run the clock down and kick the FG.

That was not all we had to do. The Rams had timeouts left and would have had the time left to get 3.

Brees also made the pass to get us in FG range and threw some dimes earlier in the game, including 1 for a TD, that was dropped.

And the no call was going to be a walk in TD, Brees threw a good ball on the right read there.

How?

Seattle 2010? 49ers 2011? Vikings 2017? Rams 2018? Those are all on the defense.

This board is too stupid to comprehend sometimes.

Everyone should accept Brees was not the same player the last two playoffs and he was not going to carry this team to a SB.

Now, here were his stats for the last 5 playoff losses prior to that:

Rams: 26-40 - 250 yards 2TD/1 Int - 88.4 Rating
Vikings: 25-40 - 295 yards 3TD/2 Int - 89 Rating
Seahawks: 24-43 - 310 yards 1 TD/0 Int - 86.3 Rating
49ers: 40-63 - 460 yards 4 TD/2 Int - 93.5 Rating
Seahawks: 39-60 - 405 yards 2 TD/0 Int - 95.4 Rating

Very consistently good-not-great stats.

You generally won't win SBs if you need your QB to have 120+ ratings to win playoff games.

SB-winning Passer Ratings:

Mahomes - 78.1
Brady - 71.4
Foles - 106.1
Brady - 28.3 (really it was 95.2)
Manning - 56.6
Brady - 101.1
Wilson - 123.1
Flacco - 124.2
Manning - 103.7
Rodgers - 111.5
Brees - 114.5

After around 2014 or so Brees lost whatever clutch genes he had left. He had some amazing playoff performances before the peak with losses that were squarely on defense. I'm talking amazing performances against #1 defenses in the playoffs.

He was clutch and incredible against the Panthers in the 2017 season. That was an incredible performance. He was perfect in it.

He absolutely destroyed the #1 Vikings D and was near perfect in the 2nd half of that one. Was pretty clutch leading that comeback.

In 2018, ended the defending champs Eagles game with what should have been 4 straight scoring drives (missed FG on the Saints last drive after running the ball on 3rd and 8).

He also led what should have been the game winning Drive against the Rams.

He was still clutch

I like what Brees has contributed to the Saints since his arrival. He and Sean have brought sustained success to the organization like never before.

However, I feel the same way. Some crazy things have happenedd in playoff games but they never should have been that close.

He may not do it as regularly as others but his turnovers are almost always in critical situations and game-changing

He pretty much underperforms in every big playoff game.

He's a bit of a choker.
