I’m going to have a couple weeks off in January. Trying to figure out if there are any possible domestic trips... that aren’t skiing. Thought about Vegas and SoCal, but I’m concerned about things being shut down. Should I just keep my money?

I'd be looking in the Deep South/warmer areas, and consider what activities aren't going to be shut down by social distancing. Guided fishing along the gulf coast, esp in south FL, comes to mind as one outdoors option.

That’s a good idea. I may just pack the car and spend a couple of weeks fishing and loafing around down there.

Fishing and loafing sounds good to me. Jan is decent camping in FL weather--fewer bugs for sure. I like the Gulf Coast of FL around Englewood--not overflowing with high rise condos or concrete, plenty of good fishing, and still has some old FL charm here and there. No glamour, glitz, or fancy, unless you head to Boca Grande. Lots of guides if that's how you like to fish, or boat rentals. Manasota Key has plenty of AirBnB rentals, and the area is low key and relaxed. Not a destination if you need nightlife and shopping, but if you like to walk the beach, fish, read, and relax, it is a nice spot. I have beaucoup fossil shark teeth picked up from the beaches there.
