Ive been listening through some audible great course lectures. Ive finished ancient mythology and ancient meso-america and am halfway through one about how to listen to and understand classical / concert music.

They are really well done, chopped up into 30 - 45 minute lectures and some of them go for 35+ hours (depending on listening speed). And the lectures are usually grouped into like 4 sections.

The classical music one has been my favorite so far, ive always enjoyed it but to have it all broken down, understand the difference in style, the difference between a fugue vs. concerto, etc. and the underlying structure if each immediately makes listening more rewarding.

When audible does 2 for 1 deals they usually have a lot of these offered up. Last time for 3 credits, i got something like 150 - 200 hours of material.

Still have the french revolution, ancient egypt and a couple more to get to.

Do those have any sort of companion book you can get to go along with them or are they strictly audio?

They mention companion materials - I think they are downloadable on audible. I haven't looked at them if offered though.

If you buy them in CD, yes. Not sure about otherwise.

I’ve got a bunch of them. I like history and my favorites are Kenneth Harl’s lectures. The Era of the Crusades, the World of Byzantium, and Warriors of the Steppes were great.
