Fam, MDA is the best coach to never win a title. Robbed of one by tGOAT Warriors. Hardwn will win at least one for him, tho, so I can understand why you left him off.

Assistant Sloan takes over Jazz in 88.
88- 2nd Rd ( Lakers) - no shame
89- 1st Rd sweep to 7th seed Warriors
90- 1st Rd ( Suns)
91-2nd Rd( Blazers)
92-wcf ( Blazers)
93 - 1st Rd(Sonics)
94- wcf gentleman sweep ( Rockets)
95- 1st rd ( Rockets)
96- wcf( Sonics)
MDA / Harden won't get a pass like this compared to prime/ peak Malone & Stockton of the late 80's / early 90's. Their deepest/ most talented teams.

Condolences to Jerry Sloan's family and friends.
In the 1990's, I got some great tickets to a Jazz game. Two seats from the Jazz bench. Chicago Bulls. Regular season.
My daughter was with me. She was about 8 years old. Jerry was walking the sideline, screaming at the refs and his players most of the game.
At the height of one of his tirades, he stepped on my daughters foot. He immediately turned around, knelt down in front of her and asked her in the kindest and softest voice, "Are you all right, Honey? Are you sure?" She was sure.
The whole thing took maybe 10 seconds max. Showed me what kind of a man he was, instantly.

To be fair, those Jazz teams from 1986-1991 had absolutely horrible supporting casts. Also, Stockton didn't become a starter until the 88 season when Sloan took over. I remember the buzz from those playoffs being about the unknown little white point guard who took a prime Magic-led Lakers team to a 7 game series. It wasn't until the Jazz picked up Jeff Malone in the 1991-92 season, and then Jeff Hornacek in 1993-94, that they started getting better role players.
Besides, the Rockets, Sonics, Suns, and Spurs were all really damn good during that time period. The Warriors had Run TMC, as well.
Thanks to the Knicks, Pacers, and a couple of strong Magic seasons, the Eastern Conference wasn't completely helpless during that time. However, it definitely paled in comparison to the West. It's unlikely the Bulls would've had six titles if they had to work through a stacked Western Conference every single year in the playoffs.

In those playoffs Thurl Bailey was the 2nd leading scorer with 23 ppg / 7 rbs/ 2 blocks. Had a 40 pt game( 2 / 30 plus ) . Darrell Griffith began suffering w injuries ,but he was a better Jazz than Jeff Malone .

)Malone's game aged well ,but 88-95 were his peak athletic years.

Thurl Bailey, Jeff Malone , Griffith , Eaton were great role players . Better overall than the 97/98 cast.

before palming, in game 7 west stole the ball from van lier in the open court with a minute to go.
wilt blocked the would-be go ahead shot by van lier in the lane with a second to go in game 7.
lakers crushed the unseld defending champs in the finals.

To add to the weirdness of the crash. I stumbled upon this while reading about it
