Recommendations on water softener to install along with filter. Thanks in advanced!

Home Depot carries them. Be sure you use salt with iron out. It removes the rust buildup in the water softener. I always used half and half regular salt pellets and the iron out remover pellets. It will prolong the life of your softener. Just be sure you use a good power surge protector to protect the unit as well.

They come in many varieties and prices. The digital ones are best, be sure if you live in an area with extreme cold that you set it up in a well insulated building so it doesn't freeze up. Most are set to backwash with salt water around 2-3am, when you aren't using water. I always set my timer 1 hour fast. That way if there was a short timed power outage the unit still was being backwashed around that time, if you weren't able to reset the timer immediately after power is restored. Just be sure you run a drain hose someplace that can handle the salt water drainage after the backwashing occurs. The salt water will kill grass, plants, or destroy metal pipes. keep the end of the drain line free of obstruction or it will prevent proper backwashing and drainage.
