Shelvin’s uncle who posts on TOS said he is returning next year
And he probably thinks he will as of now.
But if he keeps playing at this level in the SEC title game and potentially the playoff, he will shoot up draft boards.
Massive, double team requiring, gap plugging NTs are a valuable commodity in the NFL. He's an immovable object that frees up other players in the front 7.
ETA:
Won't be a first rounder, but I could see him being a 2nd rounder. That is hard to turn down.

Shelvin finally is loving college football. He was the one to put Joe on his shoulders and carried him off the field. He will return!

Maybe. I think he's a huge risk with all the attributes of a money year player. He would be better served returning and proving he has the discipline to continue losing weight and maintain his conditioning. He's only done it this year. What will he do with money and the lack of structure that he has here? IMO, he's one that could really improve his draft position by coming back.

Shelvin, Ika, Logan, Farrell, Roy, Guillory, Lee just to name a few, we'll have some large, talented men on our defensive line!
Ed O said last week that TK McClendon who is currently 6' 4" 270 pounds will be a force on the DL next season, as he said TK runs a sub 4.8 in the forty. Meanwhile, defensive end Jarrell Cherry is even faster than TK. I'm pretty sure LSU will have a good pass rush next season just from a four-man rush.
I wouldn't be surprised for Soni Funia to be moved to the defensive end position as well from outside linebacker as he is 6'3" 274 pounds.
I'm also thinking Joseph Evans and Nelson Jenkins will be in the mix on the DL next season too. And let's not forget that Eric Taylor is also a four-star DT from Alabama also coming in as well.
Ed O is also anticipating Ray Parker making a significant impact next season at outside linebacker.
As I'm guessing LSU will be a top-five program again next season and we get Alabama this time at home with a brand new QB and minus Jeudy, Smith, and Ruggs.

We'll have some attrition along the D Line next year for sure based on PT.
NT: Shelvin, Ika
DT: Logan, Farrell, Thomas (?), Evans, Roy (F), Guillory (F), Jenkins, Lee (F), Taylor (F)
DL: Cherry, McKlendon, Parker, Bryant (F), Clowney (F)
OLB: Chaisson (?), Thornton, Anthony, Brooks, BJ (F), Webb (F?)
Based on playing time I don't know if Cherry or Jenkins come back. Cherry I believe was wavering in the portal to start the season and he hasn't played a single snap.
I've been very pleased when Jo Evans has come in and its mostly been NI because of depth, I think he's projected more DE/DT.
If Thomas can come back that would give us the most depth in a very very long time at DE/DT. I fully expect some of the true freshman to come in and contribute.

My prediction is that he declares for the draft; however, I would love for him to return next season. It would be like landing another five star NT.
This is not the Les Miles era anymore. Ed O makes a much more concerted effort to keep his players on the team than Les Miles did. As Ed O says they must have a draft grade of the first or second round before he lets them consider to go or stay.
Meanwhile, Shelvin would be far better off staying one more season cause he will inevitably be a first-rounder if he stays.

I don't know, $5.3 million dollars a year is far better than $1.5 million dollars a year for the first four years every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

It just depends on the MONEY..... Sure we could say "come back" (which i would like) and make yourself a potential lottery pick, or go now and start collecting money $$$$.....
I think if he came back, the ROI would be soooo UPWARD for him, One good year gets you drafted, a BACK to BACK will MAKE YOU RICH!!!!!!

, what's he truly going to do if they want to consider it with a 3rd round grade?
Thats a dumb take.
