I do 1 lb. salt and 1 lb. dry crab boil per 10 lb. peanuts. Simmer until nut is soft...aprox. 4/5 hrs. Then soak for a long as you can...I soak over night. I start the boil in the afternoon to soak all night.

Salt is a personal taste thing. Start with 1 Cup of Salt/Crab boil per 5 pounds of peanuts and go from there. The water will/needs to be very salty for my personal taste. How long? Boil/simmer for a time and begin tasting until you get the desired doneness you want. My preference is soft but still have a slight resistance to the tooth. Time can vary based on how hard you boil them, maturity of the nuts etc. After cooking I allow them to soak over night. This is when the flavor of the salt/crab boil etc enters the hull. You may consider boiling a small batch first...then make any adjustments for the rest off them. HTH

Everyone has a different approach to these just like crawfish.

I boiled 35 lbs of peanuts last weekend in 100 qt pot. One big bag of Louisiana crab boil and a half a container of Morton salt

I boiled them for about 2 hours and then let them soak for about 3 hours.

You’d wanna boil them for about 1.5 hours and then check a few every 15-30 minutes from there until you get the softness you like.

Then soak and try every 30 mins after the first 1.5 hours until they get the right taste for you.

Yeah pretty much. Just boil and check until desired and then soak and test until desired is the easiest way

Where did you get your jumbos? I'm going to have to make a run next weekend to get a bunch to freeze for the rest of the football season.

I've got to run to Mandeville in a bit. Does anyone know of a place in that area to get some of the larger ones? I know Rouse's has some, but I'm assuming they are not going to be the larger ones.

I did stop at the one on Causeway approach. Peanuts weren’t that big and many were dry.

Cashier couldn’t figure out how to ring them up. Manager comes over and struggled as well. That store is a mess. There were four check out lines with the flashing lights at the same time needing help. LOL
