Anyone have recommendations on a book or 2 to help with raising young kids? Find myself yelling at my 7 and 2 year old, and I want to stop that habit.

My wife and I have used this as a reference from time to time. We have a "headstrong" eight year-old. I will say that yelling is never effective. A bit of fear doesn't hurt, but anger usually just teaches our young man how to be angry. Best of luck. Seeking some help is the best way to proceed. For me, patience is the key. After all, water carves up rock, given time.

You don’t necessarily need any books, just cultivate patience.Lot of pressure on young parents-job,commute,bills,in-laws,etc.so don’t beat yourself up,it sounds like your heart is in the right place.Just get your head in the game. Before you holler, count to 10,learn to tune out a lot of the kid nonsense.A lot of stuff you can learn to ignore,
It takes a tremendous amount of patience to be a parent, also some kids are more difficult than others.
One trap some parents fall into is they don’t show the kids enough attention so they act out to get attention. To many kids negative attention is better than no attention.

I found No-Drama Discipline to be pretty helpful.

Check out Last Kid in the Woods. It’s not really a parenting how-to, but it sheds light on how society has shifted from letting kids be kids playing outside making noise to quiet little iPad zombies now. It helped me understand some of the behavior that I was getting so frustrated with, like you talk about. I had to realize that some of my expectations were unreasonable and based on this society imposed shift over the past 20 years.

I have read 123 Magic. It seems ok.

Also read through much of How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen and Listen So Little Kids Will Talk. It's ok. Seems a bit wishful.

No Drama Discipline is on my nightstand.
